West Coast Dry Kiln Association
On April 27 Valutec’s Robert Weithofer and Joakim Berglund were invited to present at West Coast Dry Kiln Association’s spring meeting at Holiday in Express and Suites, Astoria, OR.
The West Coast Dry Kiln Association was established over 70 years ago with the mission to promote the continued education of all those involved in the lumber drying industry, for the purpose of improving the quality and value of kiln-dried lumber, while increasing the efficiency of the lumber drying process.
Over 50 people attended and heard presentations by Robert Weithofer and Joakim Berglund of Valutec, Mike Milota of Wood Moisture Solutions, and Steve Carroll of Watercare. Harry Estlow ("never quite retired") moderated a spirited Q&A session.
After the presentations the entire group visited Hampton Lumber’s sawmill in Warrenton, OR, where Marty Brint, Ben Neuenfeldt and the crew from Hampton Lumber allowed us to tour their new Valutec continuous kiln.
“We’re very thankful that we got the opportunity to present our technology at the West Coast Dry Kiln Association’s spring meeting. There were a lot of interesting questions and the level of kiln drying knowledge of the participants was very impressive”, says Robert Weithofer.
